The Core Loop: Cooperation and Chaos
ARC Raiders is a free-to-play, third-person, cooperative shooter where teamwork and adaptability are your keys to survival. The core gameplay loop revolves around forming a squad, deploying into a hostile open world, completing objectives, engaging massive ARC machines, and extracting against all odds.
Before the Drop: Assemble Your Squad and Loadout
Success starts before you even set foot on the battlefield.
- Form Your Fireteam: Team up with friends or matchmake with other players. A coordinated squad of 2-3 Raiders is essential for tackling the challenges ahead.
- Choose Your Tools: Customize your loadout. This includes selecting primary and secondary weapons (e.g., assault rifles, sniper rifles, shotguns) and a suite of tactical gadgets. Your choices should complement your team's composition.
- Key Gadgets: The Grappling Hook is vital for rapid mobility, scaling cliffs, and evading enemies. The Turret provides automated covering fire. Other gadgets like grenades, shields, or healing devices will dictate your role in the squad.
On the Ground: Tactics and Survival
Once deployed, the world is dynamic and dangerous. Your mission is not just to shoot, but to outsmart your enemy.
- Move Like a Raider: Use the environment to your advantage. The grappling hook isn't just for travel—use it to gain high ground for a tactical advantage, swiftly flank enemies, or escape a deadly situation. Stay on the move; standing still is a death sentence.
- Identify and Exploit Enemy Weak Points: ARC machines are heavily armored, but they have vulnerabilities. Scan your targets and aim for glowing weak points, power cores, or exposed joints to deal maximum damage.
- Use Physics as a Weapon: The world is your arsenal. Kick objects to create distractions, use explosive barrels to trigger chain reactions, and leverage the environment to set up ambushes.
- Ping System: Constant communication is key. Use the intuitive ping system to mark enemy locations, highlight resources, or point out strategic positions to your teammates without needing voice chat.
Engaging the ARC: Strategy Over Brute Force
You will encounter a variety of ARC enemies, from small scouts to towering behemoths.
- Scout and Plan: Don't rush in blindly. Observe patrol routes and identify the types of enemies you're facing.
- Divide and Conquer: In a squad, assign roles. Have one player draw aggro while others flank. Focus fire on a single high-priority target to eliminate threats quickly.
- Adapt on the Fly: The ARC adapts. If a direct assault isn't working, change tactics. Fall back to a more defensible position, use hit-and-run tactics, or set up a kill zone with traps and turrets.
Teamwork is Non-Negotiable
This is the most important rule of being a Raider.
- Revive and Support: When a teammate falls, prioritize their revival. Cover them while they get back up. Share resources and ammo.

The Goal: Complete and Extract
